Acting on behalf of Preston City Council and Eric Wright Civil Engineering, a planning application has been submitted by S&L Planning Consultants for a new project at Moor Park, Preston.
The plans include restoring Serpentine Lake to its Victorian glory and installing a new bridge over the lake that replicates the original Victorian bridge.
The Serpentine will also be drained and cleaned to ensure the improvements are carried out effectively. Upgrades will be made to the Loggia area. The works would also see upgrades made to the interior of the Football Pavillion and improvement works to the lakeside shelter area.
The works would also upgrade the Football Pavilion and improve the main play area and the south-east entrance to Moor Park Avenue.
Located on the outskirts of Preston, Moor Park was awarded a Green Flag Award in 2018 in recognition of its heritage and maintenance.
Mike Hughes, planning consultant at S&L said: “Moor Park is Preston’s largest and oldest park, so it’s safe to say it has been the centre of many of the City’s historic and memorable events stretching back to 1235 when the land was derived from the Royal Forest of Fulwood by the Charter of Henry II.
We relish working on projects such as the park’s refurbishment, which will ensure that people can continue to enjoy this fabulous green space for many years to come.”
The project team includes PlanIT (landscape architect), John Bishop SJB: Architect Pavilion refurb; Kingswood M&E; Reid-Jones Partnership (Structural Engineering Pavilion); DYSE: Bridge Designers; Waterco: Completed the Water Frame Directive WFD; Bowland Ecology: Bowland Tree Consultancy; Geo2; Alan Bishop and Associates and Sub-Surface.
