Maghull school rebuild primed for consent

Image

Existing buildings and construct a state-of-the-art facility designed for 1,200 pupils. This exciting project, part of the government’s £2 billion School Rebuilding Programme, prioritises both educational excellence and environmental sustainability, aiming for net zero carbon operation.

Building for the Future: A Collaborative Effort

Sefton Council is poised to approve the project at its upcoming planning committee meeting. The team assembled for this transformative project represents a diverse range of expertise. Keir Construction will act as the main contractor, bringing their construction prowess to life. The architectural vision is entrusted to Pozzoni Architecture, whose designs will undoubtedly create an inspiring learning environment.

More Than Classrooms: A Hub for Activity

The new Deyes High School won’t simply boast modern classrooms. Plans include dedicated indoor and outdoor sports facilities, catering to the diverse athletic interests of students. A partially covered, six-court multi-use games area promises to provide a flexible space for year-round physical activity, fostering a healthy school culture.

A Phased Approach: Ensuring Continuity

The School Rebuilding Programme prioritises minimal disruption to education. Therefore, the existing school will remain operational until the new facility is complete. This necessitates a phased approach to construction. The new building will be erected on the current playing fields, allowing continued use of the existing buildings for classes. Once the new school is ready, staff and students can seamlessly transition, paving the way for the demolition of the old buildings and the creation of brand new playing fields.
